While what staff they do have are great, and their facilities modern and clean, they-like ALL nursing homes are EXTREMELY understaffed, and the patients/residents are hurt by it. I witnessed residents literally screaming for help for over an hour. My dad had fallen SEVERAL times while trying to go to the bathroom, yet no alarm was placed on him. Two days later, he died from complications of that fall. I recommend ANY person who needs help with an older relative to remodel their house into a disability friendly one and hire private help. It will not only be cheaper, but safer for their loved one.
I was assured by the upper management people that my mom would receive excellent care and that it was the best place for her to be when she passed away. On the contrary, the staff failed my mom miserably, as she sat and screamed in pain from impending sepsis. The outsourced nurses got to her when they could and made her wait for morphing while they attended to scores of other patients. I made the decision to transfer my mom to Oswego Hospiral by ambulance and it was the best decision I could have made. She received outstanding care there by a caring and attentive staff of nurses and doctors as she passed away.
